What is a virtual tour?2019-05-28T05:42:56+08:00

A virtual tour is a complete 360-degree view of a space with which a user can interact. The user can explore a space by choosing where to go and what direction to look in at all times from a computer or mobile device. With a good virtual tour, the user feels as if they’re standing within a space, controlling their movement within the area, zooming in and out, giving them the ability to focus in on areas of interest.

What is a Matterport space?2019-05-28T05:43:07+08:00

A Matterport space is a complete, three-dimensional representation of a real-world location created from 2D (RGB) imagery and 3D data from a Matterport camera or one of our supported third-party 360 cameras. A Matterport space can be navigated on a desktop or mobile web browser, and in virtual reality through a Samsung Gear VR, Google Cardboard, or Google Daydream.

Combined with seamless hosting and our web player called 3D Showcase, Matterport Spaces create a complete 3D media ecosystem for businesses to leverage 3D models of real places for many purposes — property marketing, construction, facilities management, and news/entertainment.

I have plenty of photos on my website so I am not sure that I need a virtual tour. Why do I need one?2019-05-28T05:43:14+08:00

Here are some excellent reasons you need a tour:

Website visitors now expect to see them, particularly on mobile devices.

Static photographs – no matter how good they are , do not convey the feeling of actually being there. Looking around, interacting and engaging with your potential customers is so important these days. You do not get this from either photographs or video.

You have invested time and money in your business, you are passionate about it. Virtual tours are the best way to promote your business, your venue, your property online – without a doubt.

Can I highlight key features, make punch-lists, or add other information to my spaces?2019-05-28T05:43:23+08:00

With Mattertag™ Content, you can annotate your 3D Spaces with helpful descriptions, call-outs, prices, or links to other resources like spec sheets, punchlists, or additional information. These are linked to real points in your 3D model.

How are your virtual tours enriched?2019-05-28T05:43:33+08:00

The tour is enriched by allowing our clients to highlight certain aspects of their space with interactive pop-ups, features a highlight reel with automatic playback for a “sit back and relax” viewing experience, can be uploaded to Google Maps, Street View and Google Earth, works in VR, and we can deliver high-quality still images extracted from the virtual tour.

Do I get any other assets from my 3D space?2019-05-28T05:40:34+08:00

Depending on your needs, we can provide 2D print and digital photography, video, and more from your virtual tour.

Is there a limit to the space size being scanned?2019-05-28T05:46:31+08:00

Our virtual tour is more than enough for most residential properties — can typically cover about 10,000 square feet (930 meters squared). For large properties (such as multiple floors of a commercial building/shopping mall), we suggest divide into regions and create a separate Matterport model for each region. Then link the regions together to create a cohesive navigation experience. Don’t worry, we have experience in scanning those large properties.

Can I capture outdoor areas?2019-05-28T05:47:52+08:00

We can capture exterior areas with 360° Views. 360° Views are spherical 2D panorama images that users can view in all different directions. 360° Views can be seen through 3D Showcase along with the rest of your 3D Space.

As direct sunlight can interfere with a normal 3D Scan, we recommend using 360° Views for outdoor or sunny areas.

My space is outdoors, what about the weather?2019-05-28T05:49:08+08:00

For a high quality virtual tour, the weather needs to be just right and if not our photographer would not shoot your venue or location. If the weather proved to be too cold, whereby rain or wind would make it hard to photograph or on the other hand, too hot, whereby humidity would steam up a camera lens, we could not photograph that day. However if weather conditions are not favourable on the day of the shoot, we will contact a client on the morning and reschedule.

How do I embed my 3D Showcase in a website or share it with others?2019-05-28T05:53:26+08:00

After you receive your 3D Showcase URL and HTML embed code, it’s easy!

Simply share the link with anyone and everyone via email, Facebook, Twitter or any digital marketing campaigns.  Once you have your HTML code it’s just like embedding a YouTube video – you can put it in marketing emails or on your website/blog.

With a single page link, it’s even easier.  Simply copy and paste the website URL as a link to share.

How long does it take to scan a typical home?2019-05-28T05:57:23+08:00

It typically takes 30-60 minutes for every 1,000 square feet. In fact, scan time can vary based on (1) the complexity of the property and (2) your intended use of the 3D space. Both of these factors influence how many scans you should take, which in turn means how long you spend on-site.

What is Google Street View?2019-05-28T06:14:50+08:00

Google Street View is an online tool created by Google that allows Google users to explore a city or neighborhood as if they were walking down the street. Our 3D Virtual Tour lets businesses display the interior of their properties on Google’s Street View platform online for increased discoverability and exposure.

What is Google Street View for Business? (formerly Business View)2019-05-28T06:16:12+08:00

Your Virtual Tour will appear in Google Search and Google Maps. It gives internet users a virtual walk-through allowing you to showcase all the details of your business. Sort of “try before you buy” that customers love. The service is perfect for restaurants, retail shops, automobile dealerships, doctors, dentists, lawyers, gyms, salons, and so much more. If you have made any effort to create a business environment to impress customers this is the perfect way to impress them even before they visit in person.

How does an average user find Google Street View Tours?2019-05-29T05:00:30+08:00

The entry point to a Google Street View Tour is from the ‘See Photos’ link on your businesses listing. You can also enter your tour by dropping the ‘pegman’ on your building in Google Maps. In some instances, your tour may be linked to the actual street to where someone playing around with Google Street View can navigate into your business.

You can also choose to embed your Google tour on your website. Our clients receive BOTH a Google Street View and Matterport Tour. We believe that Matterport Spaces are much easier to navigate, load faster, and are an overall better product. Therefore, we recommend using the Matterport Tour for your website.

How much does a Google virtual tour cost?2019-05-28T06:17:54+08:00

What is a 360 video?2019-05-29T04:38:27+08:00

A 360 video, also called a spherical video or VR video is a form of immersive media that enables the viewer to choose the direction they want to look in. It’s as if the viewer is standing where the camera was during the shoot.

How can I view a 360 video?2019-05-29T04:39:52+08:00

There are many ways to enjoy 360 videos online from a computer, smartphone, or a virtual reality headset. Facebook and YouTube are the most popular and readily accessible 360 viewing platforms because the 360 viewer is built in. You simply click and drag on the video screen to choose where to look. Cellphones and tablets have it even easier; simply rotate the screen to look around.

How long does a 360 video take and edit?2019-05-29T04:42:52+08:00

This is entirely dependent on how long the video is, the type of story, the amount of visual effects needed and the complexity of the shoot. Camera angles and perspectives are decided during the creative concept phase. A finished video can take anywhere from a few days to a few months to edit and deliver.
